Anguilla Tourism & Visitor Guide
Welcome to Anguilla!
Defined by what many consider the best beaches in the world, Anguilla is a bump of an island in the eastern Caribbean Sea. Part of the British Virgin Islands, it is located north of Saint Martin. Just 16 miles (24 km) long and 3 miles (5 km) at its widest point, it has one main road spanning its interior. A plethora of luxurious resorts, vacation properties and beachfront shacks support the diverse appeal of Anguilla. Located centrally, The Valley, Anguilla's capital, is where historic architecture is predominant. The island's local entertainment vibe is epitomized at Sandy Ground Village and the beach at Shoal Bay West offers the best of beach lounging and ocean sports.
Because of its small size, easy-going nature and surrounding smaller islands and cays, Anguilla lends itself well to exploration although guided tours and helpful locals are always available. Dining in Anguilla is as varied as the scenery and as equally regarded. Colourful beach bars, bistros and fine dining restaurants blend local flavours with elegant imports. With over 33 stunning beaches to choose from, sights of sun worshipers sipping rum-infused beverages are not uncommon. Typical tropical activities are easily accessible and include deep-water fishing, sailing, kayaking, snorkeling and the national sport of boat racing.
